I know this is only exciting for me, and perhaps my 3 fans, but I played my first gig outside of the safe confines of uni, yesterday. I was even on the poster (both sides of which I’ve scanned in for your viewing pleasure). It was amazing. There was a fairly good turnout, despite the morning rain, and as I played, people gradually stopped drinking and talking, listened, turned to face me and then clapped at the end of songs. Even though I had my groupies/rent-a-crowd/friends there, most of the audience were people I’d never met and they thought I had done a not-terrible job, which was amazing.
Of course, it’s just the first of many gigs/shows/concerts, and I’ll probably look back at this and wonder why I got so nervous beforehand/decided to bother writing about it online. But also, one day, when I’m so successful that I have a collective name for my fans (I’m thinking ‘little stalkers’ or ‘little stans’… of course, I will be Mother Stan) and I’m lying about my age/proclaiming about my art, I’ll look back fondly on this and be glad I scanned this stuff in as a memento.
